Kelly Mekdeci

Dr. Kelly Mekdeci

AAIE Institute Instructor

Since 2009 Kelly Mekdeci has served as head of the Georgetown International Academy, which is a small Pre-K through Grade 12 American school in Guyana. Prior to 2009 she spent nearly two decades teaching every grade level between third and twelfth, first in Florida and then in Guyana. As a child growing up in Tennessee and North Carolina, Kelly aspired to be a teacher and continues to be passionate about learning and teaching. She has a particular interest in school culture, and in 2012 completed a doctoral dissertation at Lehigh University on mission continuity.

Kelly has participated in numerous AdvancED workshops and presentations and has served on eight external review teams. Kelly has led GIA through two successful accreditation reviews and served as an accreditation consultant to the Suriname International School. In 2011, Kelly received AdvancED’s James Stiltner Excellence in Education award.
