Dr. Trudy Crossbourne-Richards

AAIE Institute Instructor

Trudy Richards has nearly two decades of experience in international education. For eight years, Dr. Richards served as a Science and Biology teacher in international schools in Colombia and Venezuela. Since 2018, she has been a principal and interim Head of School at Georgetown International Academy in Guyana. Dr. Richards earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Western Kentucky University. She also holds degrees and certifications from Framingham State University, Moreland University, and the University of the West Indies Mona. She serves as an adjunct professor for the University of the West Indies and has published or co-published six studies in the U.S. since 2014 that address various topics including operationalizing and measuring personalized learning in K-12 schools, factors that predict the decision to homeschool among African-Americans, and destructive work behaviors in higher education. Dr. Richards values any opportunity to engage in enlightening discussions with other educators, in English or in Spanish.

Dr. Richards and her husband have four young children who keep them busy. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoys traveling, fitness, and Jamaican cuisine.
